Every Town Should Have a Liberty Tree Memorial
Scouts, conservation commission, historical society, veterans and other volunteers can establish a Liberty Tree Memorial, a green and growing replica of the famed Liberty Tree of the American Revolution. They can begin elm restoration around the Liberty Tree Memorial. A Liberty Tree Memorial is a great way to make an historical presentation to citizens, inspire patriotism and elm restoration while leaving a living legacy.

Here are the guidelines

1. Plant the ceremonial Liberty Tree in a public place approved by ERI.
2. Install a permanent fence around the tree, such as wrought iron or split rail, and a bench beside it, or a bench that surround the tree in place of a fence. (Bench can be donated or sponsored by local business or group>)
3. Install the commemorative plaque on a permanent marker, such as a flat-based stone.
4. Commemorate the tree with a ceremony and arrange for continuing care for the elm. Hold an annual elm celebration of the Liberty Tree Memorial and other local elm restoration sites.
